RELATION OF ART.185 MEASURES TO ERA-NET

There are strong relations between both activities. ERA-NETs might be used for the preparation phase of activities according to Art. 185. ERA-NET topics in the respective area might be launched, even though an Art. 185 measure exists (see topic HEALTH-2009-2.3.2-6: ERA-NET for stepping up European cooperation in HIV/AIDS research).

The overall budget of an Art. 185 is not generally larger than that of an ERA-NET. In comparison to BONUS-169 with a total budget of 100M€, the “ordinary” ERA-NET EUROTRANSBIO has mobilized in four calls a total of 140 M€ of granted money (thereof 30 % from industry).
