RELATION OF ETPS TO ERA-NET AND OTHER COORDINATION INSTRUMENTS

In five cases, ETPS have been instrumental to the development of Joint Technology Initiatives (Artemis, Eniac, IMI, Clean Sky and Hydrogen).

In each case the corresponding ETP can be regarded as an informal precursor of the JTI.

There is no clear link between ERA-NETs and ETPs. However the funding bodies involved in a specific ERA-NET might be involved as a stakeholder or as member of a mirror group in an ETP.

In some cases the strategic research agenda of an ETP has proposed particular ERA-NET topics which were discussed by the respective programme owners and the European Commission (e. g. the ETP Food For Life has proposed an ERA-NET on sustainable food production in Europe.

A related topic for a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) is under discussion for the BBBE Work Programme for 2011).

In some cases ETPs and ERA-NETs work closely together for the identification of topics for the calls published by ERA-NETs and thus implement parts of the SRA in collaboration with Member States.
